Crude racism
Not to say that racism is ever a refined state of mind, but "How to spot a Jap" is a timely reminder that helping to crush the nazis is not a guarantee for being tolerant (and I'm not even talking about USSR). And for that matter, being crushed by the nazis is not a certificate for moral immunity, hint hint.
Please don't miss "The H-Bomb and you" or "If an A-Bomb falls".
Ha! Highly entertaining.
I see exactly the same thing in the US tv-series "Over There". A little more sutbtle, but it's there.
Of course, every nation in the world that has ever been at war with another nation has made every effort to make their enemy look bad, etc. Subcontious racism is a great propaganda tool, and people welcome it.
There are never any guarantees when it comes to these things. No nation, no people, is untouched by racism. Because it operates on a very basic human level, and really has little to do with nationality and politics. Those are just tools used to lure the racist in every man to the surface. Cause it's there, deep down, even in you.

Of course, I in no way mean to excuse the U.S. Hell no. Just expand the point a bit.

"Those are just tools used to lure the racist in every man to the surface. Cause it's there, deep down, even in you"
I resent this comment.
"-we are all animals"
"-every man is a rapist"
"-it's just a natural instinct"
Things like these are used when people need an excuse. Fact is that we are CIVILIZED and EVOLVED and that we are THINKING.
This requires MORAL and EFFORT to sustain.
When laziness and ignorance dominates a person those kind of arguments creep to the surface.
They are so easy and tempting to use and if "I" use them "I" wont have to be RESPONSIBLE FOR MY ACTIONS.
